What should a VPN recommendation help you compare?
List your devices, use case and required exit first. iPhone, Mac, Windows and Android can need different clients; a general mobile-and-desktop label does not confirm installers, system requirements or subscription formats.
Student browsing, developer file transfers and video across devices use different amounts of data. Estimate uploads and downloads over the plan's validity from your own records, rather than assigning a fixed allowance to a use case.
Compare total cost and data, not price alone
Compare budget VPN services using the same currency, validity and data unit. Check the total price before the cost per GiB, then review client costs, payment terms and what happens at expiry or when data runs out.
The table uses our currently published plans; uploads and downloads both count. More data means a larger allowance, not speed priority, residential exits or dedicated IPs. Purchase eligibility still depends on live plan and capacity checks.
| Plan | Total price / data | Cost per GiB |
|---|---|---|
| Starter | HK$29 / 100 GiB | HK$0.290 |
| Plus | HK$69 / 250 GiB | HK$0.276 |
| Max | HK$129 / 500 GiB | HK$0.258 |
Billing periods and 30-day validity
Distinguish a monthly plan's service duration from recurring charges. HKUVPN's currently published plans last 30 days per activation, with a one-time payment and no automatic renewal. Data does not reset at the start of each calendar month.
For longer-term offers, check the total price, allowance schedule, expiry handling and refund conditions before committing. HKUVPN's public price table lists 30-day plans, with renewal rules explained on the pricing page.
Check what a free plan or trial actually includes
Free nodes or trials should identify the provider, duration, data, device limits and later charges. An unknown publicly shared subscription is not a substitute for checking its source, and someone else's private credentials are not yours to import.
HKUVPN's currently published plans are paid. Registration lets you manage subscriptions and does not automatically grant a paid connection; our pricing page does not advertise a free VPN or trial entitlement. A free or open-source client does not establish that its node service is free.
Evaluate speed, stability and specialized-route claims
Speed and stability claims need a network, time, node, protocol and test destination. Compare throughput, latency, jitter and failures under the same conditions. One latency check does not establish all-day availability or fixed bandwidth.
For specialized circuits or unlimited-data offers, ask for the delivery scope, network path, allowance and usage rules. HKUVPN currently publishes shared US datacenter HY2 / Trojan connections with finite data allowances; marketing names do not expand those capabilities.
Clarify residential, native and clean-IP claims
When searching for residential, dedicated or clean-IP offers, establish the exit source and sharing model you need. Providers may use native or clean differently, and IP databases, ASNs or risk scores are not a universal assessment used by every platform.
HKUVPN currently uses shared US datacenter exits. A US node is not automatically residential, and a separate account is not a dedicated exit. Verify actual provision when residential or fixed dedicated access is a requirement.
Check AI connectivity and account requirements separately
For ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini or Cursor connectivity, distinguish browsing, terminal programs and API calls. Developer tools may not follow the browser's proxy settings. Authentication, permission or rate-limit responses need the destination's own guidance.
A VPN supplies connectivity. Supported regions, account eligibility, memberships, API allowance and model access remain the destination's decisions; account for these requirements and costs separately when choosing.
